At the beginning of the season, Clark interrupts his superhero training at the Fortress of Solitude to save Chloe, but for disobedience, Jor El strips of his superpowers. Unaware that being “normal” will attract adversities on his friends and family, he enjoys the new lifestyle beginning a real relationship with Lana, without secrets. Unfortunately, his happiness doesn’t last too long. Jonathan decides to candidate for the Senate against Lex, but the race takes a dramatic turn when a group of Lex’s fans, determined to do anything to see him winning the election, threatens Jonathan’s life by attempting to assassinate him. While Lex’s dark side continues to grow, Lionel transforms into a better person, confesses to Martha that he knows Clark’ secret and helps Chloe and Clark to decipher some Kryptonian messages. Professor Fine injects Lex with a super serum, preparing him to become the vessel of the evil Zod’ spirit. Fine unleashes a virus, creating chaos on Earth and transforms the finale of the season in an apocalyptic one.
