A deranged teenager, Gabriel Duncan, is about to launch a missile to destroy Smallville because is populated by “meteor freaks”. Chloe and Clark attract him into a trap, but Gabriel shots Clark, who dies in the hospital. Out of the blue, Lionel recovers from his catatonic condition, Clark’s body vanishes and somehow both meet at the Kryptonian Fortress of Solitude at the North Pole.
