Ryan James, a young boy who can read people’s thoughts, is used by his stepparents in order to rob stores. He manages to escape but is accidentally hit by Martha Kent’s car. Taken by her to a hospital, the boy claims to have amnesia. The Kent family offers to house Ryan in their farm while waiting for the social services. Ryan immediately unlocks the secret thoughts of Jonathan, Martha, Lana and Lex and realizes that Clark is different because he’s the only one whose mind he cannot read. The boy’s safety is soon jeopardized by the father’s return, but Clark helps Ryan, who promises to keep his secret but warns him about Lex.
